Backup FMS 10

Hi experts,

Mac OSX 10.5.7   FMSA 10

I recently switched from FMSA 8 to FMSA 10, and now I found out that the
Backup procedure of FMSA 10 adds a timestamp to all files (or folders,
in fact).
Because I have setup another backup procedure (by Chronosync) to backup
these FM Backups, the timestamp creates a ruin of these follow-up
backups, becausing it thinks that all timestamped folders are new and
don't need to replace the previous backup.

A solution would be that I could tell FMS not to add timestamps, but I
cannot figure out how to do this.

Any ideas on this?

TIA, Paul

I found a workaround, but this works just for Mac OSX.

1. Create an Automator script that filters the .fp7 files in the FMS
Backup folder and copies them to an in-between folder. This action
removes all subfolders and keeps the bare files.
2. Save this as an iCal plugin.
3. Set the iCal plugin to run daily, directly after the FMS Backup schedule.
4. Then I use that in-between folder for further backup.

A similar action for Windows users is described on:

If you're looking for an option iDrive can be what you're looking for.

With iDrive you can set up a backup on a remote server based on a
schedule. You can sign up for a free 2GB account which is more than
enough for most applications. It comes for Mac and Windows.

By the way, I have no personal interest on you using iDrive. I'm just
a happy customer.

Hope it helps.
