Well, add me to the people who have now exploded a floodie.  Just had (ironically) come back from watching fireworks, and put the car on charge.5 mins. later, "BAM".  Wife goes out to the garage and says "Your car is sparking!"  Sure enough, I've blown the cover off of it; big hole in the top as well.  Bummer, and I've gone 2.5 sets (1 car sold) in 7 years unEVentfully until now.With 2.5 years on this set, I'm just going to add a new (yes, I know, not a good idea, but considering that the pack has been babied...) one.  Definitely will water in shorter intervals.  Certainly didn't see this one coming.peace,

Thinking about converting a gen. 5 ('92-95) Honda Civic?  My $23 "CivicWithACord" DVD (57 mins.) shows ins and outs you'll encounter converting the sedan; the del Sol, or the hatchback. Each runs 144V/18 batteries.  Primary focus on component/instrumentation/ battery placement and other considerations.  For more info,   http://home.budget.net/~bbath/CivicWithACord.html

Would you still drive your car if the tailpipe came out of the steering wheel?

  Hi Bob, welcome to the Club! I THINK alot of this is the crappy internal
construction of the batrteries? A spark, when yur charged and drive off,
pulling amps and "Boom"! A "Oh SHIT!" EV moment! SOMETIMES you can drive
home, dignity intact? Other times it's a towrope and helpful friend?

    Couple weeks ago, I was headed out to a local car show, pulled out of my
driveway; a muffled Pop Pop! Car DEAD! Looked at my rear battery box, found
the CAUSE right off; Burnt off post, of COURSE a spark, and right after
equilizing, the batteries, they were nice and gassy.2 other batteries went
in simphany, a "I'm OUT of here, too"? Thing? So un EVentfull I never even
brought it up, just went home and pulled the destroyed bad-eries and went
on, a few volts shy of a full pack.Got done just in time to miss the car
show, looked like RAIN anyhow? IF ya follow CT weather patterns of late;
Flooding, daily rain? Seattle-like weather,, somebody said Seattle was
having WEEKS of no rain?SOMETHING'S wrong? Weather channel's at a loss.

    Seeya at PDX?
