Is it possible to change a layout type.  I've got a layout I'd like to
convert to columnar list so each item on it can be clicked to go to
the layout holding the data.

Thanks,
George

George,

Layout type you cannot change, but you can change how you view the
records. But if you view a layout as table (to get your columns) the
buttons assigned to the fields will not work in table view.

Now, what you can do is assign script triggers to your fields so when
you click in a field the script will get triggered. This is not very
useful, though if you still would like to edit your records. :-)

Cheers,
Agi

George,

One thing you can try is create the list report you want in a new
layout.  Then in the existing layout clear everything,  set the body and
header size.  Then copy and paste everything from the new layout into
the existing one. Make sure everything looks correct,  then go into
browse mode and set the view to list.

It's not a direct switch and it doesn't save any layout work but may
save you changing buttons and scripts that bring you to this layout.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Bruce.  That's what I ended up doing and it worked fine.  Now
if I could just figure out where to put Adjust Window in the script,
I'd have it made.  No matter where I put it, it won't work on the Mac
platform with 10.

Thanks again,
George

George,

What happens with the adjust window?  Or should I ask what is the
desired result?

It just stays at the width it was prior to running the script or is at
the same width when opened as the last window was.  I'd like for it to
shrink width wise to the minimum width needed to view all data.

George,

One thing I would add to Jonathan's suggestion is put hidden objects in
your layout that set the minimum size of the layout.  A rectangle that
extends horizontal and vertical just a bit bigger then your data areas.
Make them the same color as the background so they can't be seen.

One trick to help with development is to use conditional formating to
have it change color when in layout mode so you can see it.

Hope the helps.
