about the absence of the Enter key on the new Mac portables?

Yes. It's a pain when you're in dialogs that you can't get out of with  
a return. I noticed that the notebooks lost it when they went to the  
"unibody" models. I don't have one yet but my otherwise terrific Apple  
bluetooth keyboard doesn't have one and I had to learn a new two key  
combo real quick.

There's also a great little keyboard re-mapper with which you can  
(among other things) make your RH Option key act as Enter. See here:
