Is there any way to cut down the font list in the format menu on a
Mac?  I found how to do it on Windows, but no luck on Mac.

I don't know if there's a way to limit the list from inside Filemaker,
but you can control them at the system level.

The fonts are stored in the system library and the user library, but I
would recommend using font management software.  Personally, I like
FontExplorer http://www.fontexplorerx.com/.  It used to be free and
you can still download the free (and unsupported) 1.2.3 version http://www.fontexplorerx.com/download/

Why would you want to do this? You can control what Font ends up in
the field using Text Styles, Remove, etc.

Just trying to shorten the list of available choices during
development.  It's a long scroll from Ariel to Wingdings.

Why are you scrolling? Just click the menu, then type the first letter or two of the desired font to arrive there in the pull-down list. The up/down arrows and the enter key can finish things, if you want.

Alternatively, use Font Book (comes with OS X) to turn fonts on and off for the user or for the entire computer. Mac basics, really. :-)

That works a lot of places in FileMaker, too: long lists of fields,
TOs, scripts, layouts, etc.
