G'day Brian,

This is very exciting stuff. We've created 200 'iphone' panos along
with the xml file and have it all uploaded and ready to go. I sent you
an email with the details a short time ago.

A suggestion for future updates would be to include a thumbnail option
in the xml file & app, so users can quickly preview the panos before
downloading them.

Can't wait to see it in action :)

Thanks,

Aaron Spence

In order to clarify a lot of information I have updated the web page:

I think it will be much clearer now how this will work.

Hi Matt,

Blah, blah, bah, is what most people would say about your response. Really.

I know where you are coming from, but that does not mean the public is.

To say:
'It just takes one person that couldn't be bothered'

is still condescending.

You are without a doubt a figure to live up to within the panaorama
community.
You have contributed so much to it. Some people are even afraid to say
anything against your opinion, because of it. That in it self is not
right. You and I know, your knowledge of the subject is not grown on our
own fertile grounds, but of the communities. Every little experience
counts. We can consider ourself lucky to have so many people involved
with VR. Without them we would be stuck with our own ideas.
They might come or not into fruition. All I am saying is to not
disrespect anybody to contribute to the knowledge pool. No matter how
much or little they understand. For you to say the things you say
sometimes is 'to me' condescending and outright rude and disrespectful.
A good teacher wants his students to become better than himself. What do
you want to be?

Your products are not only 'Mattew Rodgers' products. It is the
collaborations of several brains and capabilities. Just don't be so
superlative, because you are not.

I have been listening for several years to this going on. I know your
history and  I don't see any improvement in yourself at all, except in
your products.  Are you seriously claiming superiority?

I hope not. You are without a a doubt a doer. You do what it takes. I
appreciate that. However, do not pretend it is all from you. It is a
collaborative pool you are drawing from and nobody charges you from
that, but gladly buys your product.
So don't kick them in the ass for that, will you?

Peace.

Cheers, Milko

WE as in Armchair Travel Co Ltd.

This is correct English.

I never intended for you to be included, Ayrton.

If we want the public to access it, though, the master list must be on your site?

Do you offer licenses to the player, for public use of the player, without referral to your
servers?

Not the royal "We", the Corporate "we",  as is the standard practice in England when speaking
of companies and groups.

No worries, we get this all the time from those who speak "American" rather than "English" -

Correct, the master list is *always* on our site.  We maintain the list of links to all of your
portfolios (which are on your site) - that's the only way for the app to find them.  It's gotta
know where to look.  Otherwise, you have to enter the URL manually and then save it as a
bookmark.

I'm not sure what you mean by licenses.  It's going to be a free app on the iPhone App
Store, so you can download it to your iPhone/iPod touch and do whatever you want with it.

ALL-

Please don't misunderstand my admiration for Brian's software and system. It is REALLY
NICE, but not for us.

It's only that there are a lot of things about it which may not suit a publicly held company.

( So many contracts, so many lawyers, so little time... )

For example, one of our clients requires that there be no Open Source code in what we
produce for them, even if the license states unlimited use, etc etc.

Another client requires ALL software and assets be served exclusively from their servers.

Another client requires no PHP, only HTML and Javascript are allowed.

So, difficult doing business sometimes.

Strange ...
I think Keith Martin is england,
lives in England
and works in England,
so he probably writes and read like everyone else in the UK ...

Me ... I'm from Brazil, so my native language is nor 'english" or "american"
as you say.

Understood. :-)

'Course, grammatically and technically speaking, in both the US and
the UK, a company is a singular thing and should be referred to as
such; "it" rather than "they", and so on. However, your use could
still be plural, IF used casually.

if used more formally and correctly you should refer explicitly to
the corporate entity instead (as in "Armchair Travel Ltd will
forgo"). More clumsy, admittedly, but correct.

The danger of following 'standard practise' is that it often falls
too close to 'everyone else does it so it must be right', which is
never a safe justification. But hey, email mailing lists ain't
supposed to be this fussy, are they? I just wanted to note my
positive interest in PangeaVR for the iPhone. :-)

Mmm. I have a background and education on both sides of the Atlantic
- but I was raised mostly in London and that's where I live and work.
I guess I'm bilingual, huh?

I don't think it is the public/private status of a company that's
really the issue here, it actually seems entirely down to what your
*clients* are sticking on. And that does seem like a tough hurdle for
you, from what you've said.

>So, difficult doing business sometimes.

Yep. Damn dumb clients, eh?

Well, it sounds like maybe not all your clients may have restrictions
that affect your use of Brian's viewer. If so, you can still set up
panos using content that isn't so severely restricted. And then use
those to show the more receptive of your clients why they should
consider relaxing some of their stipulations...

Good luck!

Was it George Bernard Shaw who said that "England and the America are
separated by a common language"?

Cheers, Uri.

Hehe, so you have to write an tcp/ip-stack not based on open-source just
to be able to serve the panoramas ;-) Sorry, could not resist, your
clients must be fun to work with...

I see no reason to leave Canada out of this. Perhaps if you chaps had done a better job
reigning in that colony of yours to our north, they wouldn't be such a bad influence on us. ;)

So, when you have company over, it's an it is it ;-)

You're going to preach English to us, are you?

A company is NOT a singular thing in ENGLISH and in the UK, but I do see American
arrogance and ignorance like yours every day, sigh.
