Hi,

I've used (and what I have in my E-Porsche www.evalbum.com/1273 a Lester GC charger from Ebay $200;

A 24V GC charger can charge 48V (diode bridge) or 96V flipping one diode and center tap to the pack.

A 36V GC charger can charge 72V (diode bridge) or 144V flipping one diode and center tap the pack.

You can also add/subtract some secondary turns to tweak it to 2.58VPc.  I'm charging Saft STM5-180's Ni-Cads in 96V mode for the last 40k miles and my uP to tell when dv/dt=0 (when two hours match within 1/2V).  Also have a spit detector on the ni-cad exit hose to shut off during spittage.

The uWave tranbformers work well too with a 25uf AC motor run cap across the primary for PFC *but* most/all new uWaves are now solid state inverters and no big transformers; *drat*!  Lesters have better PFC though and are mostly ready to go with my added uP MC68HC908QY4, P&E Micro programmer $100.

have a renewable energy day,

mark
