If we have any hope of doing anything about OldSocket and children for
3.9 the time is now.

Todd and Michael:  Would you guys have any time tomorrow to come by
#squeak on irc.freenode.net to discuss this?  I expect to be around
tomorrow from 14:00 GMT to 22:00 GMT and can maybe be around longer on
request.  With any luck Cees and/or Goran should be around during the
later half of that time.

I'm currently strongly considering incorporating  Steve Waring/Brent
Vukmer's HTTPClient.  It was used pretty heavily for BFAV2 and so has
some fairly wide testing.  It is a bit of a monster but includes a lot
of functionality.  As has been previously mentioned it cannot be
download from SqueakMap any longer but I have a copy of it.

Anyway, I would like to hear any and everyone's comments and I think we
are running out of time to make a decision on this for 3.9.

Ken

I did a little hack porting get to socket stream and the performance
improvement was staggering.
So, YES, PLEASE :-)

I took a brief look at it and it seems, as you said, a bit of a monster.
It's also only partially integrated with system stuff, a few
things/classes that seem to be duplicated from existing ones.

Having said that I would still vote to include it. We can always do
incremental changes later.

Michael
