Heli tips?

I just got a photo job involving shooting from a helicopter. The job is primarily normal
photos, but of course I want to shoot some panos as well, when I'm up in a heli for the
first time ever :)
I know some of you are doing this, and I also found some info in the archives.

But what would be the biggest problems I'll be facing?
Is the vibration of the heli a problem?
Downdraft from the rotors ?
Would it be OK to have the pilot rotate the heli, and shoot 4 or more fisheye shots?
Would it be better using a (short) pole?
Or just point a CF straight down and stitch with a zenith shot from the ground?

Any tips would be very useful, as I'm quite excited (and nervous too)...

Besides letting the pilot do you what you want ("No, sir, you can't stick anything out there without securing it at least with three ropes ...) vibration and downdraft are the most serious problems. Using a pole is the way to go.

Enjoy and good luck

Try to get all the gear you'll need so you wont have to change lenses
during the fly. Dust flying around and lenses flying down can be a
killer combination! An assistant could be a big help too, in case you
have to many things to handle.

Another thing, and this is important, very, very important: relax and
enjoy the ride! :)

Thanks a lot!
Wow, that's a lot of stuff!
Are those harnesses parachutes or part of the heli safety belts?
I'll definitely not climb out of the heli like that! ;)

Looks like the poles are short, but maybe they're telescopic?
Do you shoot 4 around from a horizontal pole?

Have I missed an update on the next theme? I don't have the time/date it is
to take place. (Of course that could be part of the theme..)

No I bough it, one for me and one for my partner or my wife to use when we
fly, what is very frequent here in Rio

So you should try to use as fast shutter as possible then, like at least 1/500?

Thanks again!

Those are used on construction sites, on scafolds, etc.  You can use
climbing equipement like http://www.rei.com/category/4500075 . You can
probably rent it on indoor climbing gymns.

The dates for the shoot will be announced on the WWP list (if that's
what you are talking about). Usually it's one or two days on each side
of the solstice (or equinox).

Hi People,

Ayrton, could you send me those pictures of your gear when you shoot aerial
panos ?
I might have to make an aerial pano in the future.

Thanks,
