The answer can only be speculation, but I like to speculate, so... I think it was feminism. It is men who value freedom. Women value security. In America, women have taken over, so freedom has been lost. And since American women have become such monsters, most American men no longer have the support of a good wife or girlfriend, which men need in order to function well.
