OK, so I wrote to Collab.net asking quote for the conversion of the
repository, and something even better happened. See the quote below from
Collab.net:

> This has been approved as a conversion CN will do for free.  Please let
> us know a suitable date and time when the CVS repo will not be accessed
> and we will get back to you to confirm CN's availability at that time.
> CN prefers this be done during USA nighttime ours.

Yeay!!!

So before someone notices that this was a mistake :-), I think we should
get the thing converted quickly --- that means we need to decide on a
date.

My suggestion is to ask this to be done on this Friday April 4th (or
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, ... in the order of preference.) If anyone has
a big enough problem, I'd like to hear now.

I don't know how long the conversion will take, but if we expect one day
outage of the repository, I think we'd be on the safe side.

I ended up talking to a few people here in CollabNet about this early
last week, and my take was: since Hudson has helped out at least one
project at CollabNet (the one I'm working on, of course), then why don't
we return the favor?

Thankfully, I talked to the right people.  :)

Updates. I've heard from Collab.net that they Sunday night will likely
work for them. So currently that's the primary candidate.

Unless I hear back from someone saying no in a few hours, that'll be
official.

Wooo hooo. I'm not anti-cvs or anything, but Hudson is the only
project I use that isn't on subversion and I have had some odd cvs
behavior when updating from more than a week or two behind (i.e.
unexplainable broken builds that a fresh checkout fixes). I welcome
this change to svn eagerly!!

This is great news!

I'm kinda hoping that Subversion could make it easier to write scripts that check that we have updated translated files (my idea is that localized files should always be more recent in CVS/Subversion than English ones; my guess is that getting the date automatically is easier with Subversion).

I've got a confirmation from collab.net on the conversion date and time,
and it will be 9:30pm PDT, April 6th 2008.

Please refrain from making commits during this time. They said the
repository will be locked, so hopefully even if you make a mistake it
will be rejected, but better safe than sorry.

And I was told that we should expect about 1.5 hours of the down time,
which means it will be back in 11pm.

From other dev.java.net projects I found that
https://hudson.dev.java.net/svn/hudson/ works. Ive just built
trunk/main with Hudson, and it seemed to be working fine.

Some questions.
* Hudson had to be authenticated to get the code (similar for other
projects on dev.java.net). Is there no anonymous access anymore?

* My ci-game project under plugins/ci-game was not copied over. I just
wonder if it was because it wasnt added to the plugin pom? Perhaps
there were other projects that was left out?
