Here's a photo of some of my equipment showing how I have the tripod set up were the pano head mounts with a brass pin to rotate. Very small foot print with this setup! The brass pin has3/8 threads so that it can easily be removed and the pole can be hooked up.

The next one over shows my 17 foot telescoping pole setup using a RF remote and a small plastic clamp holds the camera strap out of the way..

And the last one over shows how it's done hand held, small thread about 4 or 5 feet long with a fishing weight on the end and a bullseye level on the camera. The thread can be rolled up around the lens and putting the lens cap on holds it in place.

Hope this helps others,

Thanks Roger for the pictures. Nice setup! I like your custom
bracket/connector.
I have been looking for an easy pole setup for some time, but I don't like
the connectors that are attached to the lens.

Roger,

I saw your website. very nice panoramas. I am amazed by India's palaces. I hope someday I could visit.

Where did you get your 17 foot pole? Can you send me an amazon link or something? What other poles could you suggest I buy for pole panoramas?

Thanks,
Milo

Hi Milo,

I use the K-Tek K-202 boom pole, it's made out of high-density graphite, is super strong and only weighs about 2 pounds. It's not cheep but either is a good tripod made out of this material. This pole is my monopod, 17 foot pole, walking stick and when you're carrying around expensive camera equipment it's also good protection. Someone will think twice about mugging you when you have a big stick!
I went down to where they make these poles to check them out, and also got a good discount.
B&H Photo has other brands for less, but I don't know how good they would be.
