I install two of these hi freq rodent sound generators in my garage in 1989
and they are still going today.  I cannot hear it, but there is a test knob
to hear the frequency and a tuner to adjust the sine wave which should be
done once a month.

Never had any rodents in my house or garage.  It helps to have very tight
triple garage door seals, one on the outside, one on edge of the door that
presses against the jam and one on the inside.

I think I got these from www.heartland.com which cost about $10.00 each.

Another thing I done, is to have a wide expansion joint that is about 3/4
inch deep that is  between the garage floor and the outside pavement.  About
once a year, I fill this with insect and rodent repellent granules I got
from ACE Hardware which keeps out the insects.
