If I remember 9.03 corrected a iwp issue. As for your client is on a different machine. It helps for file maint to have a client on the same machine as the server. The other thing you need to check on a Mac is the file permissions. Be sure all the database folders and files have the correct permissions.

I also can't turn on IWP. I cannot connect to the Filemaker file remotely when Fm Server is running. I want another user from another IP address to connect to the file which I assume doesn't have to be on the same network? Do you have to know the IP address of the remote user before they log in to the file or is authentication via login and pw enough? In any case, I thought this might be a problem because I didn't run the updaters. I downloaded the server update to version 9.02 and the update for version 9.03. I try the 9.02 updater. Even with Server off it says you have to turn Filemaker Server off before doing the update but Filemaker Server is not on. This is on a Mac running Tiger. Is there a plist file or preference file I can remove to get the installer to work? I want to do Filemaker 2 updater before I do version 3 updater. I read on FM web site that there is a problem getting IWP to work on Tiger. The instructions are hard to understand but it says that you need the full version of 9.03 not the updater to get IWP to work. Is that correct? I don't have the full version of 9.03. If I do get the updater 9.02 to work then 9.03 then at the least I would like remote networking to work but I would also like IWP to work. I will reinstall the server but I would like to know what is the problem because I don't want to reinstall the server and find the problem is with the OS or something else. I have all the OS updates to Tiger installed. i have another hard drive on the same computer with Leopard but i don't want to install FMSA on Leopard since I have a PHP MySQL server running on it and I want them separated. I suppose I could install Leopard on the Tiger drive if I need to but this is turning out to be really complicated for just demonstrating a file. Well there are several things going on but I'll stick with the
installation/update of the FMServer. I have two hard drives. Unfortunately, I just updated the 2nd hard drive to Leopard. It had FMServer 9 on it. I never really used it so I'm not sure it was configured right anyway but it worked and I could serve databases and I could connect to them on my local network. I was trying to connect from a remote location and got into this trouble. I thought IWP and sharing didn't work because of Tiger. I read something about problems with TIger. The sequence of events; First I tried the 9.03 updater and I had an error for the FM Server could not connect. Next I updated the OS. I did an uninstall and tried the full 9.0.3ESD which is what I thought I was supposed to do. Now I can't get the admin console to start? It said to try to download it by using the XXX.XX.XX.XX:16000 url in the browser. When I do that it says it can not connect to download the java applet. Is this an OS 10.5 issue because of Java or is that only for Windows? The docs say I have to open ports 80, 5003, 16000, 16001, 16016, 16018, 2399. Since I have Leopard it comes with no firewall turned on. Do I open these ports on the router or is it talking about opening the firewall on Personal WEb Sharing? I'm not sure about where the ports are and how the get opened. Thanks, Janis On Oct 14, 2009, at 4:54 PM, Michael Gilman wrote: > If I remember 9.03 corrected a iwp issue. This is an issue I have a lot to time into!! For Server 9 your java cannot
be better than version 7. If you uninstall Java and reinstall version 7 your console will magically work perfect.
