Really happy to know Ben is on the team, from all the work he have been doing it was  good hopes for the 3.0. Nice to have it on github also. Hope that the open-source openness bring more people to come over and enrich the pv project, although I guess it will require plus effort to manage it all.

glad to see this moving on again : )
(...will we see some "pixelvision" stuff as Ben done in his projects, or the plans are to keep the engine pure actionscript? I just can't old-on all the questions :P)

i dont agree.
lots of people use twitter as a news feed,
like the hacker news network http://twitter.com/ThisIsHNN
also, we use twitter here @ work as a worklog.
we just tween what peojects we're working on,
and exactly what we're doing. it's been a great
time management system.

so keep on tweeting...

I do agree with xero.

The mailing list is great for the “big announcments”, letting the rest of us to discuss about it. Twitter is, like xero said, a live feed of what’s is going on. I would hate to receive messages on the rate I receive twitter feeds.

Also, I don’t see the IRC channel as a way to find solutions to our problems or answer to our questions. It’s more a way to hang over with other fellow papervisioneers at chat about what’s going on in general. Personally I don’t have much time for that and I’m sorry of this.

As for the forum, we can use nabble to harvest the mailing list as if it were a forum and I think that we need nothing more than that.

My 2 cents, cheers everyone :)

Dude that doesn't even mean anything - if it's 178 people that are already
on this mailing list, couldn't we just broadcast any small updates here?

I simply don't understand the desire to fragment the channels of
communication.  I know the internet is all about the next new big thing or
whatever, and if people like twitter then great.

But really the effort was already invested to get people to sign up to
this very mailing list to get updates, then why would we not continue to
use it?  I just don't understand what starting yet another communication
channel gains us aside from dividing up where people have to look to get

So now to get info about papervision, I need to read the:

Please, can anyone explain to me how this is a rational and good course of

As always, just my 2 cents.  Take with a grain of salt  ;)

@piguiz - We just set this up a couple days ago for submitting and voting on features:

http://papervision3d.uservoice.com/pages/30836-features

I imagine it will get messy REALLY quickly, so we still need to figure out a system to parse it into a proper roadmap, but this at least gets it out there.

Yes, that will be the place for feature requests (although it's not really been announced). We saw Unity's feature request system (http://feedback.unity3d.com/pages/unity) and thought we could mimic that. Seems to be a good solution.

I imagine it will get messy REALLY quickly, so we still need to figure out a system to parse it into a proper roadmap, but this at least gets it out there.

- papervision news blog = big announcements
- papervision dev blog = more of a community showcase and dev news
- pv3d.org blog = examples
- this mailing list = community back and forth
- and a twitter feed = project status updates

and don't forget forum.papervision3d.org = for people more comfortable with a forum

Imagine what it would be like if we tried to consolidate all of that into one system?

Yeah, I can imagine it, and it would be great.

Imagine just going to one URL (the forum would seem to be ideal since you
can have multiple sub-forums) and being able to get all that information
and help.

Seems like the dream!  :)
