My wife and I are new to Dutch Barging (but I have sailed and been both
ways through the canals to and from the med), and now own a Belgium
flagged Luxemotor of 24.35m, currently at St Jean de Losne being
re-fitted.
We both have an ICC, and intend to live on her full time within a year
or so.
Much has been said to us about the 24m rule above which LOA there is the
absolute necessity for a PP for long-term cruising. As one would expect
we have met any experts on the subject. Some claim it's not a real
necessity, but one stated that the LOA was to the rudder post and not to
the transom (for example).
What are your opinions?
